I knew I wanted to teach even before I stepped on a yoga mat. It was only 6 months after my first yoga class in fall of 2004 that I embraced an opportunity for teacher training. Even though I couldn't fathom how or to what extent at the time, some quiet and powerful inner knowing told me that it would completely change and shape the course of my life.
My original practice stems from the roots of both Ashtanga and Power yoga. In the past few years here at The Lounge, my love for breath, precision alignment and the energetics of practice have opened a whole different dimension. My favourite styles to teach extend from the lightness and creativity of Vinyasa Flow, to the quiet presence of Yin and Meditation. I enjoy finding the opposition of one extreme within another, and remain profoundly facinated by the inner workings and potential of the human Mind and Heart.
Over the past 7 years, I have dabbled in many forms of yoga, including Vipassana Meditation, the practice of Reflection at Yasodhara Ashram, and the study of Pranayama with Shri O.P Tiwari. My gifted asana teachers include Jonny and Bryan Kest, David Williams, and Kino McGregor. I also consider myself beyond blessed to practice alongside my shiny, fellow yogis of the Bow Valley, whom I learn from every day. My special gratitude extends to Rameen Peyrow, my current teacher, for showing me the capacity and depth from which it is possible to love the world.
From all it's complexity to simplicity and back again, to me, this whole thing called Yoga, this wonderful, life-changing, life-giving path can be encompassed by the simple words of Pattabhi Jois; "Practice, Practice, all is coming."
